I'm a little late for this again...
FYI, I added the category Theatre/Concerts to the statistics, 'cause I finally (!) got to see some plays and a concert again in June. *yay* First ones this year, but hopefully not the last.

(Ok, it's almost been a week now already, but I really didn't find the time to post this earlier...)

Last Monday (18 June) I went to see MerQury live at the Kieler Woche again. I was especially looking forward to it as I sadly didn't get to see them the previous year.

This was actually the 8th time I've seen them live. *yeah* As always it was a fantastic show!! :-)

Notable things:
- First time I've seen Johnny perform on stage without the moustache!! I was actually kinda shocked. *lol* Definitely was weird. :D
- As always I was standing in the first row. But they had a stage bridge thingy (*gg* is there a proper English name for it? I think it's called "Bühnensteg" in German) this year (and from the photos I've seen apparently already last year too), which meant I only got to see Johnny from behind or the side for at least half of the time... *lol*
- Volker winked at me. Twice. *happy sigh* :D *gg*
- No "Love Of My Life" this time. :-(( I really missed that! They played "These Are The Days Of Our Lives" instead which was nice too though.

I didn't think my photos (almost 180 *yikes* *gg*) would be much good this time, because there's always so much fog and the guys never bloody stand still and move around all the time... *lol* But about half of them are alright and some even turned out really good imho. :-)
See here )

Yesterday I went to see Bob Geldof live at the Kieler Woche (Kiel Week).

I was at the "Rathausbühne" (stage on the town hall square) early enough to get to the 2nd row in front of the stage. *yeah* First there was the official opening of the Kieler Woche at 7.30 pm (first time I've actually been there to see that ceremony...) and after approx. 5 minutes of, let's call it "clearing the stage" and mini soundcheck *g*, the concert started at about 7.45 pm.

And it was fantastic! :-) I must confess that I didn't really know much about "Sir Bob" before this and also only knew maybe 2-3 of his songs... But I had a great time and enjoyed the music. "The Irish can't play football... But we can play music." Haha. :D Yes, you can. He played for 1.5 hours and, best part of it, completely for free. :-)

Have some photos... )

Oh, and I filmed "I Don't Like Mondays", 'cause I love that song. <3 Am quite pleased at how it turned out, too. :-)

The weather... Well, I'd say it was tolerable. Definitely could have been a lot worse. ;-) It started raining a little right when the concert started, of course... :p But thankfully it was just occassional light rain showers. Only near the end of the concert it started raining continously and didn't stop again, so I arrived home soaking wet after all. *lol* But then it didn't really matter anymore and the evening was totally worth it. :-)

Yesterday it was time for the Kiel Lauf. It's a quite popular sports event here and it seems to be getting bigger every year. This year there were about 8,600 participants.
This is also the first year that I took an active part in it. Go, me! *gg* Before I only ever was a spectator when my father did the half-marathon. ;-) And it actually went surprisingly well (considering that I virtually didn't do any training for it). I finished the 6km in 47 mins 25 sec. :-)

(taken before the start)                                               (about 1-2 km into the race)

In other news: I'm going to see a live streaming of the Phantom Of The Opera 25th Anniversary Concert with [livejournal.com profile] fry_addict in a small cinema near Hamburg on 2 October. \o/ Yeah, baby! Really looking forward to that! <3
Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] baka_yu for bringing up the idea and to [livejournal.com profile] fry_addict for finding the cinema. :D
It'll probably be the next best thing to actually being live at the Royal Albert Hall. ;-) And it'll definitely be the first time I'm driving 76km just to get to a cinema... *lol*

luinalda: (Krolock)
Yesterday my mum and I went to Thomas Borchert's "If I sing... - Meine größten Musicalerfolge" concert at the Altonaer Theater in Hamburg. And it was totally awesome!!! ♥
The music was wonderful and we also laughed so much. You just have to love his little stories. *gg* And he made us sing too, because "singing makes you happy". :D So much fun! *lol*
 I also really liked his guest star, Carin Filipcic. :-) I had heard her before on 1 or 2 recordings, but never actually knowingly paid her much attention... She has a great, very powerful voice. *wow* Thomas did a couple of duets with her and she also got to sing 2 or 3 solo songs. She kinda messed up "Totale Finsternis" and then did some improvising, which was hilarious. *lol* :D

This is the only picture I managed to take, unfortunately, and the quality is really rotten. :-(

So I stole these from Facebook. ;-)

I also found this video on YouTube, which is kind of an official trailer for the concert tour with little song snippets. It brings back lovely memories. <3 His voice!! *bows*

Thank you for an amazing evening, Mr. Borchert, and please come back very soon!! ♥

So Kiel Week (Kieler Woche) officially started today.
Here's what I hate about Kiel Week:
1) Traffic. It doesn't actually annoy me that much that there is probably more traffic than usual, but that I can't drive the ways I want, especially in the evenings. Well, I guess technically I could... ;-) But it's a lot more tedious and slow, so I rather drive a slightly longer way to avoid the crowded area.
2) Crowds. Yep, there are always far too many people in the city for my liking. Sorry. :p I like to walk quite fast when going from A to B and this just isn't possible anymore at the moment...
3) The weather. *lol* Ok, I realise that it isn't actually really Kiel Week's fault... But can it really be just coincidence that it always rains most of the time during Kiel Week?? :p

What I really like about Kiel Week though is that there are lots of concerts for free. :-) Ok, I'm mostly only interested in 1 or 2 of them each year, but it's the thought that counts. :D *gg*
Please keep your fingers crossed that it doesn't rain Wednesday evening, because MerQury will be back then! \o/
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I just couldn't resist after all and bought two more Blue Nose Friends yesterday. *whistles innocently*
Patch and Dilly
They were the last 2 for the reduced price in the shop. Too bad.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Watched Simon Amstell's stand-up program "Do Nothing" on DVD yesterday. It was really good! :D Although a bit short maybe (60 mins.). ;-) And there was just so much I had heard on Grandma's House before... *lol*
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
OMG, it's that time of the semester again... There will be tests at school from Monday on for 2 weeks! O_O Nooooooo! *panics* The only upside is that afterwards we will have holidays until 14 August... I don't have any plans for them though, basically because I have NO BLOODY MONEY! *headdesk* :-((
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I'm doing a Snack Exchange with [livejournal.com profile] fantasy_bubbles, btw. So cool! :D I started buying the sweets today and it's just so much fun to choose them. I might get carried away with it a bit... *lol*
I will post a picture of what I sent her after she receives the package, because I don't want her to see beforehand. ;-)
luinalda: (Krolock)

I noticed several people filming during the concert, so I checked out youtube today and sure found a couple of short videos. They are quite good quality and give a little impression of the gig. :-)
Thanks to the filmers/uploaders! I saved them all as they are a great reminder of a wonderful evening. <3

luinalda: (Hugh Laurie)
So, Hugh Laurie concert in Hamburg last night. :D And it was awesome!!! \o/ Not that I expected anything else, of course. *gg* I'm quite bad at writing reports, but I'll give it a go. ;-) *lol*

We met up at about 5 p.m. (we were 6 people) and then went to a Thai restaurant on the Reeperbahn. I have no idea anymore what my dish was called (something with chicken *g*), but it was very yummy. :-) We ate and talked and had a nice time. At about 7.30 p.m. we left the restaurant and went over to the concert's location, the Café Keese. Doors had already opened at 7 p.m. and there was still quite a long queue waiting outside. But we got inside comparatively quick nevertheless.
The Café Keese isn't that big really and it was already very crowded. We made our way to about the middle of the room on the right side and stayed there. The stage was pretty low and frankly we couldn't really see anything. A bit of the microphone at the most, if we were lucky. ;-) *g* And it was really hot!
At 8 p.m. the band came on stage and started playing, and at some point Hugh must've joined them because the crowd started cheering some more. *gg* I didn't really see him at first, but caught some glimpses eventually.
He greeted us with some German sentences. :D Don't remember them exactly, but something along the lines of "Guten Abend" (good evening), "Willkommen..." (welcome) and "Mädchen und Jungen" (girls and boys). He also said then that that was actually all he knew in German. *g* And asked how many of us understood English. :D

My view actually got much better after about half of the concert and I could see Hugh quite without problems when he was standing at the microphone in the middle of the stage. *yay* I still had some problems when he was sitting at the piano on the left side, but at least I could see most of his head for most of the time then. *lol*

At the end, they got off the stage and when they came back on once more, Hugh said that that was actually all they had but they could just start all over again. *lol* We sure wouldn't have minded. :D They played one more song and then it was over (~ 9.30 p.m.).

I really enjoyed the music (even though I don't normally listen to Blues tbh) and I'm definitely going to buy his album! :-) [BTW, can somebody tell me why the German Amazon lists it twice? Both with different prices and release dates? *is confused*]. I think I liked 3 songs in particular. One of them was "Let them talk". I don't remember the titles of the other ones, so I'll have to try and find them on the CD. *g*

I thought the audience was in a pretty good mood too. :-) Altogether nice atmosphere.
Several people wore House shirts (who'd have thought, right? :p) which I didn't really find that appropriate, but ok... There was also one guy in a complete House outfit. He was standing a bit in front of me during the concert and kept waving his cane around every now and then, and afterwards, when we were still standing outside talking, we saw him "limping by" (seriously!). *lol* IDEK.

Last night I went to see the MerQury concert at the Kiel Week (Kieler Woche).
It was great, I had such a blast!!! <3 \o/

MerQury are a Queen tribute band, and they really are brilliant.
This was my 7th time to see them live since I first came across them at a carnival party in 2002. I was quite enthusiastic about them right away and have seen them every year at the Kiel Week ever since (they weren't there in 2005 and 2006 though, sadly). :-)

I arrived at the stage quite early, so I watched them setting up their gear and tuning their instruments and stuff.
They started shortly after 10 p.m. and played for slightly more than 2 hours.
As usual I was standing in the first row, right in front of Volker's (the bass player) microphone. :D
I meant to take only a couple of pictures this time, but ended up with more than 100 again... *lol*

Beware! LOADS of photos under the cut! )

I also managed to get the guys' autographs after the show. :-)

Well, this is another attempt to start using my livejournal more frequently again. ;-) Let's see how long this one lasts. *g* But I'll try my best!
A couple of weeks ago I fell in love with the British TV series "Primeval". :-) So I took the opportunity to change my computer desktop image, after about 5 months with Dexter, to this:

So, will nochmal wieder einen Versuch starten, mein Livejournal wieder regelmässiger zu benutzen. ;-) Mal sehen wie lange ich diesmal durchhalte. *g* Aber ich versuche mein Bestes!
Vor ein paar Wochen bin ich igendwie zum grossen Fan der britischen TV-Serie "Primeval" geworden. :-) Deshalb habe ich nun, nach etwa 5 Monaten mit Dexter, mein Computer Desktop-Bild zu diesem hier geändert:

What else is new? On the occasion of last week's "Kieler Woche" I've been to two concerts (MerQury and Reamonn), for which I will be adding a few photos soon.

Was gibt es sonst noch Neues? Anlässlich der "Kieler Woche" war ich letzte Woche auf 2 Konzerten (MerQury und Reamonn), von denen ich demnächst ein paar Fotos hochladen werde.
