luinalda: (DW - 11 hello)
Hello all. Yep, as you can see I am still alive... ;-)

I thought it was finally time to make a proper entry again. Well, somewhat proper. It's more like a kind of retrospective update or something. *lol* Mostly an excuse to post pics of my Xmas presents and cat really... ;D

I had a very nice Christmas. :-) As always, I spent Christmas Eve with my parents and both grannies this time.

Btw, this is the case I bought for my iPhone. It looks awesome! <3

From 30 December until 4 January I was in Berlin to visit my friend. I've always spent New Year's with her these last past years and we always have a great time! :-) On New Year's Eve we played some board games (Keltis, Dominion and Qwirkle Cubes) which was great fun. :D And in the new year we had a shopping day at Alexanderplatz & Friedrichstrasse and the next day went to the cinema to see The Hobbit. <3

I only took exactly one photo this time. *lol* (Well, and one of her dog, but it didn't actually turn out well...)

Oh, and here's the stuff I bought in Berlin. I basically spent almost all of my Christmas money... *whistles innocently* *gg*

Oh, and my cat had "helped" packing my suitcase for Berlin. Just so you know. :D *lol*

Well, I'm still alive, obviously. ;-) Just been really, really busy and all...

My internship time ended yesterday (those 2 months just flew past!) and on Monday it's back to Hamburg again for 2 weeks...

Here are some photos I took during a little walk today.

And Jamie, having some fun with a leaf I brought home with me. :D

Happy Easter everyone! I hope you can all enjoy a nice long weekend. :-)

Saw this cute pic on a friend's FB page. <3

I spent Easter at my parent's house. Drove there on Saturday afternoon and just returned home. My grandma was also there, and yesterday we met the rest of the family (well, most of them anyway) at a restaurant for dinner. All in all I had quite a nice time. :-)
The Easter bunny was also very generous to me. *g* Apart from a fair amount of yummy chocolate it brought me this:

<3<3<3
Love the idea of giving me the money in Pound Sterling! And no, I definitely never get even near this much for Easter. ;-) It also already includes some holiday money from my granny. *yay* This will pay nicely for 1-2 musical/theatre visits in London, I'd say. :-)

And last but not least, have a random Jamie pic. :D *lol*

luinalda: (Les Mis - Enjolras (Killian))
- So, yesterday it was time for our visit to the Rocky Horror Show in Hamburg. And it was just So. Much. Fun!!! :D The audience participation was just awesome! During the rain scene I actually thought that they had set of the sprinkler system (or maybe they had, who knows *g*), because it felt even more wet than the rain outside. *lol* The toilet paper and confetti throwing was great too. *gg* And I think everybody was on their feet during "Time Warp". :-)

I had hoped to see Rob Fowler as Frank 'N' Furter, but sadly he wasn't playing (apparently he had just been on holiday) and we had his cover, Matthew McKenna, instead. But Matthew was really great (and quite cute *ahem*)! As a matter of fact, the whole cast was very good. :-)

I felt a bit sorry for Sky Du Mont, who was the narrator, though. There were a couple of idiots people who yelled things like "Boring!" and "Get lost!" everytime he got on stage to do his thing... Ok, it probably really isn't the most interesting part of the show, but the narrator is still part of the show and movie - so get over it! But I don't think Sky was bothered too much by it anyway and he also had one or two good repartees ("You only have to listen to it once, but I have to do this every day." *gg*). ;-)

The Deutsches Schauspielhaus is really beautiful, btw. :-)
some theatre pics )

- It was back to school today. Six weeks of holiday just isn't long enough, is it? :p I really had to force myself out of bed this morning. *sighs* But the first day wasn't actually that bad.

- I should finish season 2 of Warehouse 13 tonight (I only have episode 2x12 and the Christmas one left). *yeah* And then I can start catching up on season 3. :D I'm really very much in love with the show by now. <3

- It's my cat's 1st birthday in exactly one week. \o/ Just sayin'.

Today Jamie survived his first visit at the vet's. :D
He quite disliked being in the transport box, but luckily it's just a 3-4 minutes walk.
Generally he is alright. Just 2 things. The vet found flea excrements in his fur (no actual fleas jumping around at the moment, though), so she gave him something for that. Which I have to repeat twice (end of November and end of December). Also, he seems to have had a cold recently (he did actually sneeze a couple of times since he is here). So I have to watch that and visit again if there are any signs of it getting worse... And that was it. In 10-12 days we are to go again for the first vaccinations.

So, here's the first picspam. <3
The pics are from yesterday evening and this morning.

Awwwww. )
I'm sure to take loads more photos over the weekend. :D

Mhh, and I think I need a proper cat icon soon. *gg*

Finally!! We had to postpone his moving in from yesterday to today, but now he's finally here!
*does the happy dance*

May I present little Jamie:

♥♥♥♥♥

He was a bit shy and confused at first, hiding a bit, but then after a while started cautiously to explore the flat. We played, he had a little nap on the cat tree, had something to eat...

At the moment he's sitting on the armrest of the sofa in front of the aquarium, trying to catch some fish by pawing at the glass. *lmao* The fish seem to be equally intrigued, though. :D

Anyway, expect some major picspams in the next days. <3 *gg*

Hiya. D'you remember me? ;-) Just realized I haven't posted for about 2 weeks... :-( Mainly because I didn't really have anything to say. Yeah, my life is that boring. *sighs* Still don't, really... *lol*

Today was beautiful weather. <3 As long as you stayed in the sun, it also was considerably warm. There was a farmers' market in the city, and most of the shops in the pedestrian zone and our shopping mall were open as well, so I spent a couple of hours with my parents there. It was quite nice.

Also, my scratching post finally arrived this weekend. *yay* So today I spent 2 hours (!) assembling it. Which was good fun actually. :D I quite enjoyed it. And I'm a bit proud that I managed it all by myself! *g* Go, me! :D
This is what it looked like at first:

And this is the result of my hard work:

Don't mind the little plush cat. *lol* I just thought it was somehow fitting. :D
Anyway, I really like it. :-) Hopefully the cat will, too... ;-) *gg*

Oh, and I have to share this:

♥♥♥ Probably the best thing I saw today. *happy sigh*
John Owen-Jones - my favourite Valjean ever!! <3<3<3 Simon Bowman, who comes a close second after I saw him in London in August. <3<3 And Colm Wilkinson. :-)

I just placed another order in an online pet shop. I think I have nearly everything now. *ponders*
I still need a scratching post, but I already know which one I'm going to order. I'll probably do so in 1 or 2 weeks. And then all that is left to buy is cat food and cat litter, which won't be necessary until a few days before I actually get a cat though. :D

Now I'm off to watch some DVD. \o/ Which I haven't done for 10 days... *gasps* That so isn't like me!! But test week kinda got in the way... :p Well, now it's finally over (thank God!) I guess I have a lot to catch up on. :D
Starting with "The Last Enemy", which I enjoyed a lot so far. :-) Oh, Ben! ♥ Also Robert Carlyle. I actually don't really care much about him as a person (*sorry*), but: Scottish accent FTW!!! <3<3 Is there anything better? *sighs*

Woohoo, I bought some more cat stuff. :D Last week I bought a cat toilet. And today I brought home a nice cuddly cat bed, a "snack roll" (activity toy) and another small toy (see pic).

I guess things are slowly getting a bit more serious. *gg* Still a lot of stuff I need, though...
Also started a list with cat names. *g* Not easy, I tell you! :D

In other news: I totally failed at the Spanish grammar test today. *headdesk* Bugger, I didn't have a blackout this bad for a very long time. The first 2 tasks were somewhat okay (although I'm sure I have some things wrong there as well), but the other 2 were pretty much a total disaster... :-(( If I even get anything around 40-50% for this test, I would be more than happy... *sighs* And OF COURSE this had to be the test which counts the most into the semester end mark... *doh* *facepalm*
Let's just hope the rest of the week will be a bit better...

Today was the first day back to school. I already miss the holidays. :p *gg* Too bad we won't have any again until Christmas... *sighs*

We were given our Spanish tests back. Most of them weren't too great, as I already knew...
Grammar: 75% (2-)  [I'm quite glad though, I thought it would even be a bit worse, seeing how I struggled during the test *lol*]
Reading comprehension & vocabulary: 92,5% (1)  [that's fine]
Writing: 68% (3)  [yeah, not really good... I was running out of time during the 2nd exercise, so I a) wrote a good deal less than minimum and b) hadn't any time left to check for mistakes afterwards... so especially exercise 2 was pretty much a mess]
Listening comprehension: 85% (2+)  [that's alright]
Dictation: 70% (3+)  [should have been better too :-( some really stupid mistakes as well... *doh*]

Still need our Spanish oral marks, but actually I'm not too keen on that... *lol*

Also got back the first English test today, "Business letter composition". There were so many expressions I couldn't remember during the test, and I also left out 2 or 3 things we should have put in there... But I still have 86% (2+), so yay! Really didn't expect that. :-) It was even the second best of the class. :D
Not really looking forward to the other English tests. It can only get worse now... :p

And, to finish this post, a little random fact: Today I actually went and bought... a cat toy! *lol* Still no cat anywhere near to be seen, but I just couldn't resist. :D Can't hurt to get ready, can it? *gg* ;-)

Cats

Jul. 22nd, 2010 12:33 am
luinalda: (DW - 10 cat)

I know some of you have cats, so... ;-)

Actually I've always been more of a dog person (never had one, though *sobs*), but over the last years I somehow really have taken a liking to cats. :-) And at the moment I'm seriously considering to maybe get one later this year...

Would it even be possible to have one in my rather small flat (~36 m²)? I live in the city and don't have a balcony, so it wouldn't be able to go outside at all...
What expenses can I expect each year (food, vet, etc.)?
Any other advice, experience, comments....?

I'm only just at the beginning of gathering information, so any help would be much appreciated. Thank you! ♥
