luinalda: (DW - 11 hello)

- No more test results today. But we got a new teacher! He's an elder man (idk, late 50s? maybe even a bit older? I'm really bad at estimating age...) from England, but has lived in many places around the world, with his permanent home in France now. He's really very nice. :-)
Took us a bit by surprise when he walked in. :D Although we knew there'd be someone new, because our teacher A. left to go back to England before the holidays.

- Weird weather today. It couldn't really decide between strong wind, little rain showers or blue sky and sun... *lol* At the moment we have the latter, which is nice. :D

- Got an email that the "Stuart: A Life Backwards" DVD I ordered the other day on Ebay was dispatched today. Yay, I'm looking forward to that. :-) Maybe there's even a chance that it arrives for the weekend. *fingers crossed* Otherwise sometime next week, which would be fine too.

- Sorry I wasn't able to upload the rest of my London picspams yet... They will be here eventually... ;-)

luinalda: (DW - 11 facepalm)

Today was the first day back to school. I already miss the holidays. :p *gg* Too bad we won't have any again until Christmas... *sighs*

We were given our Spanish tests back. Most of them weren't too great, as I already knew...
Grammar: 75% (2-)  [I'm quite glad though, I thought it would even be a bit worse, seeing how I struggled during the test *lol*]
Reading comprehension & vocabulary: 92,5% (1)  [that's fine]
Writing: 68% (3)  [yeah, not really good... I was running out of time during the 2nd exercise, so I a) wrote a good deal less than minimum and b) hadn't any time left to check for mistakes afterwards... so especially exercise 2 was pretty much a mess]
Listening comprehension: 85% (2+)  [that's alright]
Dictation: 70% (3+)  [should have been better too :-( some really stupid mistakes as well... *doh*]

Still need our Spanish oral marks, but actually I'm not too keen on that... *lol*

Also got back the first English test today, "Business letter composition". There were so many expressions I couldn't remember during the test, and I also left out 2 or 3 things we should have put in there... But I still have 86% (2+), so yay! Really didn't expect that. :-) It was even the second best of the class. :D
Not really looking forward to the other English tests. It can only get worse now... :p

And, to finish this post, a little random fact: Today I actually went and bought... a cat toy! *lol* Still no cat anywhere near to be seen, but I just couldn't resist. :D Can't hurt to get ready, can it? *gg* ;-)

Hiya. *waves* I'm back home! I arrived yesterday evening from my friend's house, where I stayed an additional 2 1/2 days after we returned from London on Monday.

We had such a fantastic time in London!!! ♥♥  We saw most of the standard tourist sights *g*, visited Shakespeare's Globe Theatre and the Sherlock Holmes Museum, and did LOADS of shopping. \o/ :D Our hotel was very nice. The weather was ok (we had a couple of rain showers, but most of the time it was just cloudy and dry).

So, expect some major picspams soon! :D

Will have quite a lot to do to catch up with my f-list now. ;-) *gg* You guys have been busy, I have more than 150 notifs in my mailbox... :D Sorry I won't reply to any of those posts, but I'll definitely read most of them.

So, tomorrow morning I'll take the train to Berlin, where my friend lives. And then on Tuesday morning (7.20 a.m.!! *yawns*) we'll fly to London! \o/ Woo-hoo! I'm all excited and happy!!

Off to do the rest of my packing now, and then early to bed...

See you in about 12 days. :D I'm gonna miss you all! <3
*waves*

luinalda: (Lester - too sexy)

Spent a few hours in the city again today to do some shopping. Yay! :D

Bought this bag as cabin luggage for my holidays.

I really like it! :-) It's from Titan's "Arizona" line. Have decided to get the matching trolley case at the end of the year, preferably for Christmas. ;-) My old, green trolley is pretty much worn out, so it's about time to get something new.

Also bought these two:

They don't come out quite as nice as they are in the pictures though... ;-)

Yesterday I watched the first episode - "A Study in Pink" - of BBC's new Sherlock series.
I really LOVED it!! <3 It was brilliant and very entertaining. I enjoyed it so much. :-)

I didn't know anything about it beforehand, so I was actually a bit surprised to see that it takes place in contemporary London, with high-tech mobile phones, computers and all... ;-) I'm not really familiar with the classic Sherlock Holmes (I have only seen I think 1 episode of the Jeremy Brett series and read 1 or 2 stories), so I didn't mind the modern touch. I quite liked the idea of the text appearing on screen when they were sending/receiving text messages or the like.

It had some funny moments as well. :D For some reason Sherlock's "Why have I got this blanket? They keep putting this blanket on me." (and the rest of that dialogue) towards the end totally cracked me up. *rofl* IDK *g*

I think Benedict Cumberbatch was great as Sherlock! :-) And I can totally see why some people were reminded of The Doctor by him! I had that feeling most of the time, too. :D *g*  Oh, and I love his voice!!
Martin Freeman, who I always liked since Love Actually, was fab as John Watson, too. :-) Nice to also see some of Watson's "dark", tormented side.

So, looking very much forward to the other 2 episodes! :-)

I definitely need some icons for this show. <3 So if anyone has a recommendation where to find good ones, let me know. ;-) Thanks!

Mhh, this has quite set me in the mood, so I might finally watch the Sherlock Holmes movie with RDJ/Law tonight (yeah, I still haven't seen that one *blushes*)... *lol*

luinalda: (Rodney - oh no)

And another one of my fish, my last Otocinclus, died. :-(
I more or less expected it this time though, because he was getting thinner and thinner, and looked quite pitiable in the end... :-(  RIP, love!
Will get some new Otos when I'm back from my holidays, because they are adorable. <3

On a more positive note... this time next week I'll already be in London!! *squees*
Yesterday I picked up the suitcase from my parents.
Also just noticed that I still have 2.40 quid from last year's England visit. *g* Wow, I'm rich!! LOL :D

In a moment I'll be off to the bank to exchange some Euros for Pound sterling. Yay! *gg* Then will stroll a bit around the city, trying to find some stuff I still need for my holidays (e.g. a good book). :-)

Cats

Jul. 22nd, 2010 12:33 am
luinalda: (DW - 10 cat)

I know some of you have cats, so... ;-)

Actually I've always been more of a dog person (never had one, though *sobs*), but over the last years I somehow really have taken a liking to cats. :-) And at the moment I'm seriously considering to maybe get one later this year...

Would it even be possible to have one in my rather small flat (~36 m²)? I live in the city and don't have a balcony, so it wouldn't be able to go outside at all...
What expenses can I expect each year (food, vet, etc.)?
Any other advice, experience, comments....?

I'm only just at the beginning of gathering information, so any help would be much appreciated. Thank you! ♥
