Well...

- As everyone keeps talking about it and says how much they love it, I now ordered books 1-4 of "A Song of Ice And Fire" on Amazon. It's a boxed set, looking thus:
I actually bought it at a local bookshop today first, but when I got home I checked Amazon and found that they sell it for nearly 9€ cheaper! So sure thing I ordered it there and I'm going to return the one I already have to the store on Friday. I only hope it's as good as everybody says it is. ;-) I haven't had a look at the Game Of Thrones TV series yet either, so I don't really know what to expect.
In any case, I have to finish my Wodehouse book first before starting with this series. Don't really have a lot of time to read at the moment... :-(

- I'm currently considering to maybe set my journal to "private" (except for memes or the like)...
luinalda: (Les Mis - Enjolras (Killian))
- So, yesterday it was time for our visit to the Rocky Horror Show in Hamburg. And it was just So. Much. Fun!!! :D The audience participation was just awesome! During the rain scene I actually thought that they had set of the sprinkler system (or maybe they had, who knows *g*), because it felt even more wet than the rain outside. *lol* The toilet paper and confetti throwing was great too. *gg* And I think everybody was on their feet during "Time Warp". :-)

I had hoped to see Rob Fowler as Frank 'N' Furter, but sadly he wasn't playing (apparently he had just been on holiday) and we had his cover, Matthew McKenna, instead. But Matthew was really great (and quite cute *ahem*)! As a matter of fact, the whole cast was very good. :-)

I felt a bit sorry for Sky Du Mont, who was the narrator, though. There were a couple of idiots people who yelled things like "Boring!" and "Get lost!" everytime he got on stage to do his thing... Ok, it probably really isn't the most interesting part of the show, but the narrator is still part of the show and movie - so get over it! But I don't think Sky was bothered too much by it anyway and he also had one or two good repartees ("You only have to listen to it once, but I have to do this every day." *gg*). ;-)

The Deutsches Schauspielhaus is really beautiful, btw. :-)
some theatre pics )

- It was back to school today. Six weeks of holiday just isn't long enough, is it? :p I really had to force myself out of bed this morning. *sighs* But the first day wasn't actually that bad.

- I should finish season 2 of Warehouse 13 tonight (I only have episode 2x12 and the Christmas one left). *yeah* And then I can start catching up on season 3. :D I'm really very much in love with the show by now. <3

- It's my cat's 1st birthday in exactly one week. \o/ Just sayin'.

Weird weather today. One minute the sun is out and the next minute the sky's all grey or it's even raining... Definitely no real summer. :-(

I was in the city centre today to get some things. In one shop I stumbled upon this bed-linen set and as it was the only/last one of the kind I just had to buy it. So cute! <3

Also, this little fella was in the post on Friday. ♥

I never thought I'd say this, but this is actually the first time I'm so glad I'm currently NOT in London... Horrible and scary times indeed! I'm really worried about what it'll come to and seeing some more pictures on the news just now actually brought some tears to my eyes. All this violence just seems so ridiculous and pointless. *headdesk* And apparently there was a first fatality now as well. :-(

My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone living in London and those who have friends and family there. And of course the cities where they are copycatting now (Birmingham, Liverpool, etc.)... Hope you all stay safe, dears!! xx
luinalda: (Valjean (JOJ))
I was more or less randomly browsing YouTube for some people earlier today and found these 2 videos. Alfie Boe and Matt Lucas singing "The Impossible Dream" and "He Ain't Heavy, He's my Brother".

LOL. So good!! :D

Just another Jamie mini picspam. :D

It's his 1st birthday in two and a half weeks. Wow, how time flies!

Just stole these of FB. ;-)

New Hawaii Five-0 Season 2 promo pics, apparently. \o/

OMG. The guys. On horses! *flails*
That's gotta be an interesting episode. :D

Well, LJ finally seems to be back to normal. Hooray!! \o/

I was gonna post some more photos from during our living room renovation last week, but LJ was still quite a bit wonky at the time so I didn't... And now there's no need to anymore as the room's more or less finished (apart from a few little things like skirting boards). ;-) Also, the photo wallpaper thingy finally arrived yesterday. *yay* So as soon as we'll have that on the wall I'll take some pictures to show you. :-)

Bought some more My Blue Nose Friends stuff lately. <3 Guess I'm officially obsessed with them now. *lol*
But I can't help it, they are just too cute!!
N'awww )
Also bought another plushie on Ebay, but it's from an UK seller so it might take a couple of days longer to arrive.
Luckily I'm all out of money now, so I can't buy any more for a while... ;-) *gg*

I'm about to finish my Warehouse 13 Season 1 DVDs this evening. Just 2 more episodes to go. I really like this show a lot. :-) It's so much fun and I think I actually like all the characters (so far).
Oh, and I might have squeed a little at the sight of Mark Sheppard in episode 10, because I had totally forgotten that he was a guest star in the show. *gg* Definitely looking forward to seeing more of him in the next season. *yeah*
I'd really like to have a few Warehouse 13 icons, but I don't have any free icon space left at the moment. *boohoo* Guess I'll have to delete some old icons I don't use that often anymore eventually... *sighs* ;-)

Book Meme

Nicked from [livejournal.com profile] spirited_lizard. :D

Go to page 44, of the current book you are reading, or a random book and type out the first 5 complete sentences at the top of the page.

"[...] Little knowing that you never had a happier moment in your life than when you got my letter."
"No, I say!"
"Bertie, be honest. You know you were delighted."
"I wouldn't say that."

- P.G. Wodehouse, "Thank you, Jeeves"

Right, so my Hamburg report has to be postponed a few more days yet again... (I already tried to post it, but then LJ screwed up. *argh* Luckily I had saved most of it, but it needs to be finished again and I can't quite remember what I had written the first time...)

The reason being that we finally started renovating my living room! My mum and I cleared out all the shelves and cupboards and stuff and put everything into boxes which are now scattered around my bedroom and the kitchen. Especially my bedroom (which isn't that big to begin with) is almost fully laden. Won't be easy to find my bed these next few days. *lol* ;-)

This is what my living room looks like at the moment:

Cosy, isn't it? :D *gg*

So tomorrow we'll have to start tearing down the wallpapers. Sounds like fun! Or NOT... :p
luinalda: (Sherlock - dear diary)
Happy Birthday, [livejournal.com profile] londonesque!! I hope you have a wonderful day! :-)

------------------------------

Obviously, I still didn't get around to post (or even write :p) my little Hamburg report... But will do so later today, or tomorrow at the latest!
------------------------------

I ought to be locked up and kept away from all shops in the future! LOL I always buy things that weren't planned, dammit! *g* ;-)
On Saturday I just wanted to browse through our two consumer electronics stores for a bit and I ended up buying 2 DVDs ("Burke & Hare" and "Inception"). Of course. :p
Today I was out to see if they already had the Primeval series 5 DVD (or "4.2", as it is called over here *rolleyes*), which will officially be released tomorrow. They did, so I bought it. *yay* Ok, that one was actually planned. But unfortunately they also had a good CD that was reduced to about half price, so I bought that one too. And then, when I was almost out of the "danger zone" so to speak... I saw this blouse and liked it a lot and just had to buy it as well.

So, now I'm pretty much broke again... Ah well, at least I'm used to the feeling by now. :D LOL
------------------------------

Oh, and a somewhat random question: Does anyone know why Benedict wasn't in the last episode (3x03) of Cabin Pressure?? Was it just this once or has he left permanently (God, I hope not!!)? I haven't listened to the episode yet in case it was explained there...
luinalda: (Snoopy & Woodstock)
Just wanted to wish [livejournal.com profile] maggi137 a very (and teeny bit belated *g*) Happy Birthday!!! *hugs* I hope you're having a fantastic time in London! :-)

Also, thank you [livejournal.com profile] caesaria and [livejournal.com profile] baka_yu for the v-gifts! :D

I had a great time in Hamburg today, btw. :-) I'll make a slightly more detailed entry about it tomorrow...
luinalda: (London - telephone box)
This is a kind of musical theatre special. :D

Basically just some pics of the London theatres I've been to so far. Which I realised weren't really that many yet... Well, I'll try to work on that the next times I'm in London. ;-)

The '50s...

Jul. 3rd, 2011 10:43 pm
luinalda: (TW - Jack vortex time)
Today my parents, granny and I went to an exhibition about life in West Germany in the 1950s. It wasn't a very big one, but rather nicely done. Besides the actual exhibits there were lots of interesting facts to read too. And at the end of the exhibition there was a room where they showed a film which mainly consisted of commercials from that time. Quite amusing sometimes (we didn't watch it all to the end though). :D

some photos )

And on an unrelated note: Thank you [livejournal.com profile] cordeliadelayne for the v-gift! :-)
luinalda: (London - telephone box)
And here's part 2 of my London pics.

There'll be 4 London picspams now, by the way. At first I wanted to include my theatre photos in this one, but it would've been a bit long then, so I decided to put them into a seperate post. And FYI, part 4 will consist of my Natural History Museum pics.

London - part 2 )
luinalda: (London - telephone box)
I've been to London (♥) a couple of times more, but I only have photos in digital form from my last 4 visits... As I have already posted my photos from last year, here is a mix with the ones from 2002, 2006 and 2009. Most of it will look very familiar, maybe only taken from a slightly different angle or something. :D *lol*
Oh yes, and this picspam will be in 2 or 3 parts. Just so you know. ;-)

London - part 1 )
luinalda: (London - telephone box)
Another part of my 2009 England trip. ;-)

I totally love Shakespeare, so I was very happy to finally get to visit Stratford-upon-Avon. And it is one of the most beautiful towns I've ever been to. ♥ Definitely want to go there again someday!

We visited Shakespeare's Birthplace, Nash's House & New Place, Hall's Croft and Shakespeare's grave. :-)
Sadly we didn't have any time left for Anne Hathaway's Cottage and some of the other things, but hopefully next time...

Again I'm sorry for the length of this picspam. I just didn't have the heart to leave some of the pics out. ;-) *g*

My father is going to present my mother with tickets for the new Rocky Horror Show tour (which premieres tonight in Cologne) for her birthday and invited me to come along. \o/ Yeah, baby! :D I bloody LOVE the movie so much. <3 But I have never seen the show live before, so I'm quite excited about it! I booked the tickets yesterday for 14 August in Hamburg. I'm really looking forward to it. :-) The theatre (Deutsches Schauspielhaus) looks very posh, too!

Also, thanks for the v-gift, [livejournal.com profile] caesaria! I'm looking forward to tomorrow. :D (And am getting a bit nervous already...)
luinalda: (London - telephone box)
This should actually have been part of my 2009 England trip pictures, but somehow I never continued with that... *fails* So, better late than never. ;-)

We spent two days in Blackpool (only a couple of hours each though). Which you can probably tell from the pictures, because the first evening it was very cloudy and a bit stormy, and the second day the weather was very nice with mostly blue sky (although still a bit windy). I probably wouldn't want to spend my whole holidays in Blackpool (2-3 days would be alright), but I really enjoyed the place! And somehow I like being in (British) amusement arcades. :D *lol*

This picspam is slightly longer, as I had about 250(!) photos of Blackpool and just wasn't able to narrow them down to a maximum of 45... So I ended up with 58 pics which was still very hard work, believe me. ;D

here they are )
