Last weekend I was away with my parents.
( short report and some photos )Treed Murray
Sep. 21st, 2009 10:17 pm
This evening I watched "Treed Murray". Wow! Pretty intense psychological thriller. I hadn't really expected such a good movie.
The plot seems to be quite simple: A businessman named Murray (David Hewlett) gets trapped in a tree by a gang of youths. Hence the title. ;-)
The story basically takes place in one location (the surroundings of the tree), which totally works. During the course of the movie you learn that not only the kids have their issues, but Murray also isn't flawless.
Superb performances from the whole cast. :-) Especially David (of course *g*) and Cle Bennett, who plays the gang leader, were excellent.
Also loved the song "Falling Forward". ♥ So beautiful! I need to try and find this one.
English test
Sep. 18th, 2009 12:43 pmI just got my results for the English test I took on Wednesday. It was an entry-level test for the school I think about going to.
There was an oral (about 10 minutes of conversation) as well as a written part of the test.
The written test was divided into three sections:
1) Grammar and Vocabulary. (Partly choosing the right form from multiple choice, partly filling in the blanks with the right forms/words.)
I got 86% right. *yay* I'm a little proud. *g* I must confess that English grammar isn't really one of my strengths. ;-) Also was told that they usually have an average of 60-70% there, so not bad.
2) Text comprehension. (They gave you a little English text and you had to answer some True/False questions afterwards.)
Not too hard. ;-) Got full marks. 8 out of 8.
3) Writing. (They gave you some headwords and you had to write something about them. In English as well as in German.)
I got 7 out of 8 points here, which I'm quite happy with.
I kinda sucked in the speaking part though... Only 4 out of 8 points. I'm really a bit embarrassed about that. :-( I usually feel quite confident about talking in English, but I was just SO nervous then and started stammering a lot... *goes into hiding*

A Dog's Breakfast
Sep. 17th, 2009 11:05 pm
I just watched "A Dog's Breakfast". Hilarious movie!! I enjoyed it so much. :-)A very British, dark kind of humour, which I love. Also some slapstick.
There are only a handful of actors involved, but they all are fantastic. Perfect comic timing between them. :-)
David Hewlett, who plays the role of "Patrick", also wrote and directed the movie. I so loved his character! Especially his "eccentric" moments. *giggles* Kate Hewlett, David's real life sister, also plays his sister ("Marilyn") in this. She's really lovely. Paul McGillion does a very good job as Marilyn's fiancé Ryan, though his "other appearance" is even much more hilarious (don't want to give too much away ;-) ) *lol*
And Mars, the dog, is just adorable. ♥

The History Boys
Sep. 12th, 2009 05:13 pm
There's loads of quotations in it, which I didn't really know though, as I'm not that much versed in English literature/history... *shame on me*
And there was one scene completely in French without any subtitles. Very good idea... *doh* ;-) I had French at school for a couple of years, but never really was that good at it and I quit as soon as I had the chance. So I remember only very little, but I think I got the gist of it nevertheless. Loved how the boys spontaneously switched from playing brothel to war hospital when the headmaster showed up. *lol*
I think my favourite of the boys was Posner. He was sweet. Really enjoyed his singing as well. :-)
Also loved Irwin, naturally, seeing that Stephen Campbell Moore actually was the reason I wanted to see this movie. *g* ;-) Such an excellent character. Great performance. :-)

- I have decided to keep my posts in English only from now on. Don't really feel like writing everything twice anymore...
- Couldn't use my computer from tuesday to friday night last week. My hard drive C: (which holds the operating system) had virtually no free disk space left (only about 10 MB), so things were only running very slow or even not at all... So we first planned to make a recovery from a last year's data status. That took quite some time, only then to find that it required a Windows password which I didn't have anymore... *doh* So we didn't have another choice and had to rebuild the whole system from scratch. *sighs* Reinstalling Windows, reinstalling all other programs I had, copying back my files (photos, MP3s and stuff) from the external HDD I had saved them to, re-establishing my WLAN internet connection which gave me a bit of trouble... Well, all in all it wasn't really that much fun. ;-) But on the bright side, everything is working again fine now. :-)
- I'm more or less finally finished with rearranging/tidying up my living room and bedroom. *phew* My writing desk is still a bit of a mess, but apart from that I'm quite happy with the "new" look. I did take some pictures of my living room today, which I will post in a seperate post (friends-locked) after finishing this one. Pictures of my bedroom will follow when my desk is a little more presentable. ;-)
- I had a friend visiting for two days. We had a nice time. :-)

Criminal Minds
Aug. 30th, 2009 10:23 pmThey started showing the 4th season of Criminal Minds on German telly today. So I just watched episode 4x01 "Mayhem". Bloody hell, that episode really was thrilling! Great episode. :-) And as always I especially loved the Morgan/Garcia moments. They are just cute. *g* I'm looking forward to the "new" episodes now. It's good to have the team back.

Hot, hot summer
Aug. 20th, 2009 05:19 pmI had to go to the city to get some things. First I planned on taking the bus because it's quicker, but then I thought that the air in a bus probaby wouldn't be that pleasant so I decided to walk. Which was actually quite nice. Still hot, but you could catch a light, yet warm breeze from time to time. ;-)
I bought my stuff, had a little piece of pizza and a drink and then walked back home. Think I will take a quick, cold shower to cool down now...
This morning I received my "Razzle Dazzle" DVD. *yay* I'll probably watch it later. :-)
Was eigentlich recht nett war.
Tuesday...
Aug. 18th, 2009 11:52 pmWhen I got home I finished watching season 1 of "The Big Bang Theory" (which means the last 4 episodes, as I indeed watched two more episodes yesterday after posting ;-) *g*).
Episode 1x14: "The Nerdvana Annihilation"
The guys buy a time machine online thinking it's only a miniature, but it's actually a bit bigger. *gg*
Sheldon: "Why'd you set it for the day before yesterday?"
Leonard: "Because I want to go back and keep myself from getting a time machine."
Sheldon: "You can't. If you were to prevent yourself from buying it in the past, you would not have it available in the present to travel back and stop yourself from buying it, ergo you would still have it. This is a classic rookie time travel mistake."
Leonard: "Can I go back and prevent you from explaining that to me?"
Sheldon: "Same paradox - if you were to travel back in time and, say, knock me unconscious, you would not then have the conversation that irritated you, motivating you to go back and knock me unconscious."
Leonard: "What if I knocked you unconscious right now?"
Sheldon: "It won't change the past."
Leonard: "But it'd make the present so much nicer."
Episode 1x15: "The Pork Chop Indeterminancy"
Leonard, Howard and Raj fight over Sheldon's beautiful twin sister Missy. ;-)
Sheldon: "You see, I'm a superior genetic mutation, an improvement on the existing mediocre stock."
Missy: "And what do you mean, 'mediocre stock'?"
Sheldon: "That would be you."
Episode 1x16: "The Peanut Reaction"
Penny plans on throwing a surprise birthday party for Leonard.
Leonard: "I don't celebrate my birthday."
Penny: "Shut up. Yeah, you do."
Leonard: "It's no big deal. It's just the way I was raised. My parents focused on celebrating achievements and being expelled from a birth canal was not considered one of them."
Episode 1x17: "The Tangerine Factor"
Penny breaks up with her boyfriend, so Leonard asks her out on a date.
Leonard: "I don't think I can go out with her [Penny] tonight."
Sheldon: "Then don't."
Leonard: "Other people would say, 'Why not?'"
Sheldon: "Other people might be interested."
Well, that was season 1 then. Looking forward to season 2. :-)
Episode 1x15: Leonard, Howard und Raj kämpfen um Sheldons hübsche Zwillingsschwester Missy. ;-)
Staffel. :-)

Monday Monday...
Aug. 17th, 2009 11:51 pmI'm still in the process of clearing up my flat and trying to throw away as much useless stuff as possible. ;-) I started on friday and there still is so much left to do. *sighs*
So besides that I haven't really done much else today...
After eating some pizza for a late dinner I then watched two episodes of "The Big Bang Theory". I still love this show! :D
Episode 1x10: "The Loobenfeld Decay"
(on hearing Penny sing)
Leonard: "What the hell is that?"
Sheldon: "I don't know. But if cats could sing... they'd hate it too."
Nice episode. *g*
Episode 1x11: "The Pancake Batter Anomaly"
Sheldon: "If influenza was only contagious after symptoms appear, it would have died out thousands of years ago. Somewhere between tool using and cave painting, Homo habilis would have figured out to kill the guy with the runny nose."
Fantastic episode! Sick Sheldon is hilarious. *lol*
Might watch some more now. ;-)
Episode 1x10: Nette Folge. *g*
Episode 1x11: Grossartige Folge! Der kranke Sheldon ist genial! *lol*
Werde jetzt wohl noch etwas weitergucken. ;-)
